The interior of this brilliantly tasteful south London boozer is strewn with so many taxidermied animals and skulls it’s like a homage to the Grant Museum of Zoology. A fox rears proudly above the main bar, a deer reads the events listings on a chalkboard and the titular antelope horns hang above a vintagey dining area. Best to head to the vast rear room to sample a impressive selection of wines, spirits and draught craft beers, though. Think ‘1950s village hall’: it’s full of gorgeous wood panelling, stained glass windows, church pews and criss-crossing floral fabric bunting. If it weren’t for the young, trendy drinkers it attracted, you could be at a meeting of your nan’s bridge club.
